Bu çalışmada, çocuklar için yazdığı kitaplarla dikkat çeken ve çoksayıda ödül alan Andrew Clements’in eserleri incelenmiştir. ÇalışmadaClements’in Bunun Adı Findel, Konuşmak Yok ve Kaybedenler Kulübüeserleri incelenmiştir. Bunun Adı Findel kitabında sözcüklerin nasıloluştuğunu sorgulayan; Konuşmak Yok kitabında konuşmamanın nasılolduğunu merak eden; Kaybedenler Kulübü’nde ise kitap okumak içinmücadele veren çocukların hikâyesi anlatılmaktadır. Kitaplarda sorularve cevaplar; sorunlar ve çözümler ön plana çıkmaktadır. Çocuk okurlartarafından dil üzerine bir kez daha düşünmeye fırsat vermesi nedeniyledilin inceliklerini, zenginliklerini, sınırlarını kısacası dilin doğasınıişleyen bu yazınsal metinlerin incelenmesi önemli görülmektedir.Bu kitaplar, dil konusunu çocukların anlayabileceği şekilde farklıyönleriyle işlemesi nedeniyle seçilmiştir. Çalışmada, doküman incelemesiyöntemi kullanılmıştır. İncelenen eserler, çocuklarda dil konusuna farklıbakış açısı kazandırma imkânı tanıdığı için önemli görülmektedir.Kitaplardaki dil konularını incelemek üzere dil bilimi, dil felsefesi veeğitim felsefi alanlarından faydalanılmıştır. İncelenen eserlerde, dil bilimive dil felsefesinin araştırma alanlarına ve tartışma konularına çocuklarıhazırlayabilecek bir içerik olduğu görülmektedir. Aynı zamandaincelenen eserlerde ön plana çıkan sorular çocuk okurlar için dil ile ilgilibaşka soruların sorulmasına da imkân tanıyabilecek niteliktedir. In this study, the works of Andrew Clements, which attracted attention with the books he wrote for children and received many awards, were examined. In this study, Clements’s Bunun Adı Findel, Konuşmak Yok and Kaybedenler Kulübü, were examined. The story of children who question how words are formed in Bunun Adı Findel, wonder how not to speak in Konuşmak Yok, struggle to read books in Kaybedenler Kulubü is told in this work. Questions and answers; problems and solutions come to the fore in these books. So, these literary texts, which deal with the intricacies of the language, its richness, its limits and the nature of the language, are seen as important in terms of giving the opportunity to think once again on the language by children readers. These books have been selected because they work the topic “language” in a way that children can understand. Document review method was used in the study. The works examined are considered important because they allow children to think on language. Linguistics, language philosophy and educational philosophical fields were used to examine the linguistic issues in the books. In the studied works, it can be seen that linguistics and language philosophy are the content that can prepare children for research areas and discussion topics. At the same time, the questions that are mentioned in the works examined allow to ask other questions about language for children. That’ why, it is thought that it would be useful to include these books in the reading lists due to the language subject mentioned in the books.
