Abstract

This chapter explores the integration of Artificial Intelligence in mathematics education, highlighting its potential to personalize learning, enhance conceptual understanding, and support instruction through technologies such as intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive platforms, and tools like GeoGebra and ChatGPT. Using Q- methodology, the study analyzes mathematics teacher candidates' perceptions, revealing two primary viewpoints: those who support AI’s motivational benefits but are concerned about shallow learning and reduced human interaction, and those who value face- to- face engagement while supporting AI’s personalized feedback. Results emphasize the irreplaceable role of teachers in providing emotional and cognitive support. The findings advocate for a balanced, ethically aware implementation of AI—one that ensures equitable access, protects data integrity, and maintains pedagogical values, while enhancing mathematics learning through collaborative, human- centered approaches.
