The concept of sustainability has become a critical issue covering various areas, including ecological responsibility and the need to manage natural resources in the long term. Design for sustainability holds a significant position in design literature and education within this ecosystem. The furniture industry, like many other sectors, is currently focused on sustainability and design for sustainability. Despite being one of the fastest consuming products, furniture also contributes to environmental problems due to this consumption behavior. Although sustainable design practices are emphasised in many academic publications, their limited global implementation, the need for more research and practical application, and the lack of response from the industry present significant problems. This study aims to evaluate the sustainability of the furniture sector, specifically focusing on Do & gbreve;anlar Furniture Group Design Center, within the context of industrial design literature. The study analysed a focus group of industrial designers with at least five years of experience in the furniture industry. A qualitative approach was used to analyse the focus group discussion thematically and inductively. The data was systematically classified according to SWOT categories. The aim of this approach was to gain a comprehensive understanding of the participants' perspectives and experiences and facilitate a holistic assessment of sustainability-oriented design in the furniture industry. Additionally, the study's emphasis on sustainability principles in design aligns with global criticism of the limited implementation of sustainable design practices in the furniture industry.
