Özet

Considering that it is not possible to further expand agricultural areas in terms of economic production,

the importance of increasing the amount of product to be obtained from unit area is better understood.

In increasing production; The place and importance of fertilization, which is included in the cultivation

technique package applications, is not open to discussion. The amount of urea obtained per unit area can

be increased with correct and balanced fertilization. In order to achieve this increase, macro and micro

nutrients must be applied to the soil or plant in a timely and appropriate manner, taking into account

their amounts in the soil.

Although the useful amount of micronutrient elements in the soil and the amount used by the plant are

very low, in case of deficiency, they cause a decrease in productivity and quality in production, like

macronutrient elements. In some cases, they provide an increase in yield and quality when applied, even

if there is no deficiency in the plants.

Boron was first used as a nutrient element in Tibet 4000 years ago. Boron element; Babylonians used it

for gold processing, Egyptians used it for mummification, Romans used it for glass making, and ancient

approximately 73% of global boron resources are in Turkey. However, it is a fact that there is boron

deficiency in the soils of many regions of Turkey. Taking this situation into consideration, this article

has been prepared in order to bring to the attention of the public the place and importance of boron as a

micronutrient in plant production.
