Özet

The safety perceptions of the students who graduated from the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) departments/programs that will guide the occupational health and safety studies in the enterprises have an important place in the creation of the safety culture of the enterprises. The main purpose of occupational health and safety training is to create safety awareness in students and transform this awareness into a safety culture. The main purpose of the study is to investigate how the safety perceptions of the 2nd year students studying in the occupational health and safety program and the 1st year students who have just come to the department and have not taken the field courses, change after the education and training they receive in the program. A survey was conducted with 45 students from the 1st grade and 44 from the 2nd grade registered in the program. In the study, "Social Security Perceptions of University Students Scale" was used to scale students' perceptions of safety. The collected data were analyzed with the Mann-Whitney U Test for differences between two independent groups and the Kruskal Wallis Test for differences between three or more independent groups. At the end of the study, it was determined that there was no difference in safety perceptions between 1st and 2nd year students, and the students studying in both classes had high safety perceptions. In addition, it has been determined that the age, gender, whether they have been exposed to a work accident or near-miss before, the type of high school they graduated from, and the education level of their parents do not affect their safety perceptions.
