Özet

In this study, a high performance solid contact potentiometric sensor was developed for the selective determination of desloratadine using a desloratadine-tetraphenylborate (DES-TPB) ion-pair embedded in a plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) membrane supported by a graphite based solid contact transducer. The membrane composition was optimized by evaluating the effects of ion-pair loading and plasticizer type, resulting in an optimal formulation containing 6.0% DES-TPB, 32.0% polyvinylchloride (PVC), and 62.0% o-nitrophenyloctylether (o-NPOE). Under optimized conditions, the sensor exhibited a sub-Nernstian response with a slope of 39.26 mV decade−1 over a linear concentration range of 1.0 × 10−7–1.0 × 10−2 mol L−1 and a detection limit of 2.0 × 10−8 molL−1. Spectroscopic and thermal characterization confirmed the successful formation and sufficient stability of the DES-TPB ion-pair, while the solid contact design enabled efficient ion-to-electron transduction and stable potential generation. The sensor demonstrated a good selectivity toward desloratadine over common inorganic ions and organic interferents, a rapid response time of approximately 6 s, good repeatability, stable performance within the pH range of 6.0–10.0 and temperatures between 15 and 35 °C, and an operational lifetime exceeding six weeks. Its practical applicability was validated by potentiometric titration and the determination of desloratadine in commercial pharmaceutical formulations, providing recoveries of 95.0–99.0%. The proposed sensor offers a simple, rapid, cost-effective, and reliable alternative to conventional chromatographic and spectroscopic methods, demonstrating the strong potential of solid-contact ion selective potentiometric sensors for the sensitive determination of desloratadine and other cationic pharmaceutical compounds.
