The protective and progressive health benefits of monitoring elders in their homes
were shown in literature. This study has been conducted to evaluate the changes in the
elders` health status and health-related behaviors resulting from the rendered nursing
care via home visiting. This study has been conducted by using quasi-experimental
design. Fifty-six elders who took part at the scope of this study have been followed in
their homes in line with the nursing care plan. Fifty-six elders have been monitored in
their homes and resulting from the nursing service rendered totally for six months,
positive developments in the health status of elders and increases in their daily life
activities, independency levels and their participation to self care applications have
been observed. Throughout the public health nursing care progress based on the
needs of elders via home visiting, positive developments in elders’ health status and
decreases in their health risks have been determined.
