4 TH WORLD CONFERENCE ON SUSTAINABLE LIFE SCIENCES, İstanbul, Turkey, 01 July 2022, pp.90-97
Due to the increased consumption of resources, especially the energy generated
from the use of oil resources,
it was necessary to find alternatives characterized by the same quality as well
as being of lower cost, and the most important of these alternatives is the use
of waste as an alternative fuel (Refused Derived Fuel, RDF). It is the
essential type of low-cost thermal energy used in various industries,
especially the cement industry, as it uses furnaces that require high thermal
energy during production processes. Waste characterizes by the fact that it is
inexhaustible because man cannot stop consuming. In this research, the
feasibility of using waste recycling (RDF) instead of gasoline or black oil was evaluated in order to improve
the production efficiency (technological change) and reduce production costs of
Bazian Cement Company (French Lafarge) in Iraq. The wastes used in the research are one of the alternative and economical sources. The results of the study were
positive, and less than half the percentage of other natural resources used in
the production of industrial goods was used. All this led to an 8.4% reduction
in total cement production costs, resulting in a 5.1% increase in production efficiency. The amount of MIP (Material
Input Per Unit) is
0.167 kg per capita, that is, the amount of natural resources
consumed and extracted from nature is very small compared to the per capita resource consumption (0.85 kg/day), per capita consumption share. In this case, less than what provides the cleanest production and therefore sustainability, so RDF is an eco-friendly material. Using waste (RDF)
as alternative energy is one of the essential suggestions because it helps the
company's production efficiency while reducing clean production costs and
improving the environment. It also strengthens the national economy
because of its high economic
returns and taking
advantage of landfills for agriculture or construction.
