The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the treatment on the quality of life in patients with brucellosis using the SF-36 Health Survey. Fifty-seven adult patients with brucellosis were included in this prospective study. The difference between the quality of life evaluated before and after treatment was measured by using SF-36 Health Survey. At the end of the treatment each score of eight scales of SF-36 was found increased. The differences between physical functioning, role limitations due to physical problems, bodily pain, general health, vitality, social functioning, role limitations due to emotional problems, mental health scores before and after therapy were found statistically significant for each one of them (p=0.000). We concluded that the quality of life increases with the treatment in brucellosis cases and the SF-36 Health Survey is suitable to be used in brucellosis.
