The issues of education and the fundamentals of education contain controversial issues on which a total consensus is difficult. The history of educational thought clearly reveals this expression. The debates on education that emerged in the last century give a clear example of this. The subject of this study is focused on these debates that emerged in the last century. In particular, in order to make the arguments put forward in the study more comprehensible, educational currents such as critical education science, anti-pedagogy, and educational neo-conservatism movement were chosen to be examined under separate titles. Of course, there are other educational theories and movements that have intertwined views or subtle differences. In addition to these sub-headings, these currents are also mentioned. Based on these trends, it is tried to put forward how the current educational thinking is directed. In this way, while trying to make the current situation of Turkish Educational Thought in practice understandable, the study was terminated with some suggestions for our National Education System
