Abstract

An experiment, involving total of 24 male Zavot calves at 9-10 months of age. was carried out to examine the effect of grazing length on fattening performance and economy. Animals were divided into 4 groups. Group I was housed and fed for 140 days. Group 2 was allowed to pasture for 35 days and housed 105 days. Group 3 was allowed to pasture for 70 days and kept indoor for 70 days. Group 4 was allowed to pasture for 105 days and they housed for the last 35 days. Liveweight of animals were recorded fortnightly 85 days housing and 105 days grazing was optimum time for fattening Zavot cattle.
