The importance of foreign language teaching is increasing day by day. In this study overall evoluation of the foreign language teaching at the state-owned schools in Samsun has been determined, and the problems causing failure in FLT at the primary and high schools and also possible ways teaching to success have been investigated. It has been reached out that old-fashioned traditional methods are still being utilized, and cours books are strictly followed. In addition, it has been observal that modern teaching equipment is rarely used. Furthermore, it is nearly impossible to practice communicative methodes due to excessive nember of students in a classroom. Based on the excuse of lack of enough nember of qualified teachers, unqualified language teachers having differents jobs are currently teaching at various schools. Guiding and counselling students on the merits of foreign language is not found, at desirable level convincing. It is clear that nember of the foreign language classes is not adequate. All in all, if the aim is to furnish students with success in foreign language, undesirable factors causing are the very first things to be removed.
