Özet

This study examines the physical, emotional, and cultural significance of traditional games, as well as their impact on quality of life. A literature review was conducted for this purpose. Traditionally, most thoughts that associate games or physical exercise with health focus attention only on the physical aspect of the person. It has been proven that regular physical exercise improves the functioning of various organ systems, particularly the musculoskeletal and immunological systems, balances the blood and hormonal and lymphatic systems. In short, the aim is to provide a homeostatic balance to the body. Traditional games contribute to emotional development, shaping decision-making and motor responses; thus, improving the cognitive and affective levels of individuals. Traditional games promote socialization among people through the exploration, recognition, and sharing of social and cultural experiences with others. Therefore, traditional sports games become an excellent way to promote a healthy lifestyle through socialization based on interpersonal relationships. Traditional games and sports develop physical fitness, health, intellectual, mental-emotional, social, cultural, and moral values. Traditional games should be supported in society in a way that can improve individuals’ motor development, emotional development, and socio-cultural characteristics.
