Lâm’ın, bazı isti‘lâ harflerinin (ص ط ظ) fonetik etkisi sonucu tağlîz vechiyle okunacağı hususu, Verş’in Ezrak tarîkinden nakledilmiş olmakla birlikte bazı âlimlere göre bu uygulama, Verş’in diğer kıraat tercihleriyle ve Arap dilinde esas alınan tahfif (hafiflik) ilkesiyle bütünüyle örtüşmemektedir.
In this study, the articulation of the letter lām (ل), which possesses a distinctive phonetic character in terms of the attributes of tafkhīm and tarqīq, is examined within the framework of the application of taghlīẓ in the riwāyah of Warsh. The lack of awareness regarding the context-dependent phonetic variability of the letter lām may lead to certain erroneous pronunciations in Qurʾānic recitation. For this reason, the subject holds particular significance for both the disciplines of qirāʾāt and tajwīd. Despite this importance, the issue in question has generally been addressed only briefly in contemporary tajwīd works, mostly within the context of the rulings concerning lafẓat Allāh, and no independent academic study has thus far examined the topic in a comprehensive manner. This research aims to identify the points of agreement and disagreement concerning the pronunciation of lām, to draw attention to incorrect practices, and to present dispersed information within a systematic framework, thereby contributing to the literature both theoretically and practically. A qualitative research method has been adopted in this study. In this context, document analysis has been conducted primarily on the basis of classical sources, while the ṭarīqs of al-Shāṭibiyyah and al-Ṭayyibah have been foregrounded in order to reflect contemporary recitation practice. Furthermore, in cases of disputed rulings, the preferred wajhs have been presented along with their justifications. The view that the letter lām is to be pronounced with taghlīẓ due to the phonetic influence of certain istiʿlāʾ letters (ص ط ظ) is transmitted through the Azraq ṭarīq of Warsh. However, according to some scholars, this application does not fully conform either to Warsh’s other recitational preferences or to the principle of takhfīf that is generally observed in the Arabic language. Nevertheless, in light of the findings of this study namely that the wajh of taghlīẓ is established through an authentic riwāyah and that the principle of phonetic ease is relative in nature it has been concluded that this objection cannot be regarded as absolute or binding. Additionally, it has been determined that the majority of the imāms of qirāʾāt are in agreement regarding the ruling of the lām in lafẓat Allāh; however, in cases where it is preceded by a tarqīq rāʾ, certain erroneous applications have arisen due to differing interpretations of the relationship between tarqīq and imālah.
