Abstract

Introduction and purpose: Encephalopathy is the condition of dysfunction arising from the degeneration of brain's metabolism due to structural or non-structural reasons. Electroencephalography (EEG) is an important investigation used in diagnosis and follow up of brain disease with little significance in determining the etiology and it shows the functional state of the brain at the moment it is taken. The purpose of this study is to determine the etiology in patients whose EEGs show encephalopathic pattern.
