Özet

The aim of current experiment was to determine the effect of replacement of alfalfa hay with Coronilla orientalis hay in ruminant diets on the fermentation parameters such as gas production, methane (CH4) production, true digestible dry matter (TDDM), true digestibility (TD), partitioning factor (PF), microbial protein (MP), and efficiency of microbial protein using in vitro gas production technique. The alfalfa hay was replaced with C. orientalis hay in a diets at the ratio of 0, 10, 20 and 30%. Partial substitution of alfalfa hay with C. orientalis hay a significant effect on only the GP (ml)/Incubated amount among the fermentation parameters and microbial protein values (P < 0.005). However, there was no significant difference between the groups in terms of other parameters (P > 0.05). C.orientalis hay exhibited similar characteristics with alfalfa in terms of the parameters examined. However, in vitro findings in this study showed that C. orientalis hay had a low anti-methanogenic effect with increasing levels of substitution of alfalfa hay for lamb diets. However, the results obtained in in vitro studies need to be tested with in vivo studies.
