In this study, we demonstrated the clinical aspects of the patients who had blunt eye trauma. The hospital records of 35 patients with blunt eye trauma who have been managed in our clinics between 1991 April and 2002 September, were investigated. The demographic properties of the patients, clinical findings, complications observed, surgical procedures and the visual acuity after the treatments were defined. The mean age of our patients was 22±17.9 years, the follow up period was 1-208 weeks (median 9 weeks). The right eye was effected in 15 patients (%43), and the left in 20 patients (%57). We observed increased intraocular pressure in 9 patients (%26), and corneal staining in 1 patient (%3). The final visual outcome was significantly improved with the therapies applied. Several pathologies of lens and posterior segment were present in 12 patients (%34) whose vision was less than 0.4. As declared in previous studies, in the patients of blunt eye injury, the visual prognosis is highly satisfactory with the management, if there is no complication of posterior segment.
