Özet

Almond (Prunus dulcis L.) shows great variability in Turkey since the country is one of its centres of origin. Fourteen local accessions, and 'Texas', were analysed with 11 RAPD primers. The analysis showed 47-1, Haci Alibey and 'Texas' were the most similar accessions. 101-9 was found to be the most distinct type. The traditional way of growing almonds from seeds and their self-sterile characteristics explains the big variation in the almond genotypes analysed. The decamer RAPD primers successfully separated the almond accessions except types 5-1 and 6-1. It could be that these almond types had different names but were actually the same.
