19th International Symposium on Electromagnetic Fields in Mechatronics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, ISEF 2019, Nancy, France, 29 - 31 August 2019
In this study, electromagnetic field (EMF) strength levels to which patient and staff in the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) room exposed are measured. Then these levels are compared with the limits determined by the International Commision on Non Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP). EMF measurements are carried out in the MRI room of Ordu University Research Hospital where maximum level of 0.1729 A/m is measured which is above the ICNIRP limits. Mean EMF level that a patient is exposed in the MRI room is 0.0586 A/m. Maximum static magnetic field level measured in the MRI room is 1104 A/m. Maximum EMF level that the staff, who carry out the measurements, is exposed to is 0.0151 A/m. It is observed from the measurement results that mean EMF level and static magnetic field levels that patient is exposed, and the EMF levels the staff is exposed are below the limits suggested by ICNIRP.
