The aim of this study which is the determination of depression levels and risk factors which may be the causes of depression in prospective teachers was determined using logistic regression analysis. The participants of the research were prospective teachers (197 female 209 male) who were stil undertaking their studies in varions departments at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Universty in the 2017-2018 academic year. The statistical analysis of the results obtained from this research was done using the SPSS (version 21; IBM, Armonk, NY) packet program. The modelling of factors affecting the depression leves of the prospective teachers was undertaken using the univariate and multivariate logistic analysis. Income levels and KPSS (Civil Servant Selection Exam) were factors that showed to have meaningful impact on the depression levels of prospective teachers. It has been determined in the survey that the depression levels of the prospective teachers who will take the KPSS examination may have about 10 times more risk than the teacher candidates who do not take the KPSS examination. The fact that the KPSS test is or at least perceived as an important test that determines the career and future of the prospective teachers is an effective factor in increasing the rate of depression in the prospective teachers who continue their education in the last grade. In order to protect candidates who are going to take the KPSS test from the depression, increasing awareness about the exam is thought to diminish the psychosocial situations which are one of the causes of depression in the university students who are studying teaching.
