Abstract

This letter presents coherence bandwidth values at 1945 MHz over 50 MHz using mobile channel data from 107 small areas in an urban environment with transmit ranges up to 4 km. Empirical relationships between coherence bandwidth for correlation levels 0.9 and 0.5 and root mean square (rms) delay spread are derived and compared with those from the literature. In contrast to previous modeling attempts, this letter investigates whether the additional knowledge of distance and path-loss improves predictions for coherence bandwidth; significant improvement for 0.5 correlation level was found.
