Abstract: A novel one-dimensional coordination polymer, catena-poly[μ-succinatobis(isonicotinamide-κN)diaquaco-balt(II)], [Co(suc)(ina)2(H2O)2]n (suc = succinate, ina = isonicotinamide), was synthesized via the reaction of cobalt(II) chloride hexahydrate, sodium hydroxide, succinic acid, and isonicotinamide in aqueous methanol. Structural characterization using single crystal X-ray diffraction, FTIR spectroscopy, and thermal analysis revealed that Co(II) exhibits an octahedral coordination geometry, with succinate bridging the cobalt centers to form a one-dimensional polymeric chain. Extensive hydrogen bonding stabilizes the three-dimensional supramolecular architecture.
