This research aims to reveal the cognitive structures of the 2nd grade students studying in the Tourism and Hotel Management Program at Samsun Vocational School, about the concepts related to the concept of smart tourism, using the Word Association Test (WAT). Word Association Test is an alternative to assessment and evaluation techniques. In line with the purpose, the word association test related to the concept of smart tourism was applied to 40 students in the aforementioned department. The obtained data were evaluated by creating a frequency table. A concept map was created in line with the words in the frequency table. They were asked to construct a sentence related to the key concept and the sentences were analyzed by classifying them according to their meanings and characteristics. According to the findings, the most frequently used words by students regarding the concept of smart tourism consist of concepts such as internet, technology, computer, which are evaluated within the scope of information and communication technologies. It is among the results obtained that students have misconceptions related to smart tourism.
