Abstract

A comparative study of ageing methods for whiting was conducted using vertebrae, whole otoliths and broken-burnt otoliths. Whole otoliths and vertebral readings produced lower precision and underestimation than broken and burnt otoliths, which are therefore proposed as the most appropriate ageing method for this species.
