Özet
This study examines the expanded cinema approach outlined by Gene Youngblood in the 1970s. This approach seeks to transcend the traditional boundaries of cinema within the context of its interaction with digital art. Developed alongside emerging technologies and artistic practices, this approach reconfigures the relationship between the cinema screen and the audience, transforming film-watching into an active, participatory experience. Reflecting an avant-garde understanding with features such as multi-screen installations, fragmented narratives distributed across different screens, and interactive designs aiming to break the traditional distance between the viewer and the screen or artwork, expanded cinema has evolved in close relationship with digital art, particularly with technological advancements such as high-resolution projections, virtual reality, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence applications. In this context, the study examines the manifestations of hybridization between these two domains within the framework of new technologies. It investigates how this interaction reshapes multiple dimensions of artistic experience: production methodologies, audience engagement, participatory frameworks, creative processes, narrative structures, and emerging possibilities for both artistic creation and reception.
