Abstract
EPR study of gamma-irradiated sodium thiosulfate pentallydrate single crystals has been carried out at room temperature, The title compound crystallizes in monoclinic system with the unit cell parameters, a = 5.94 angstrom, b = 21.57 angstrom, c = 7.53 angstrom and beta = 103.58', with Z=4. The observed lines in the EPR spectra have been attributed to the species Of S2O, SO2-, S2O2-, SO3- and S2O3-. Each radical has shown two magnetically distinct sites in monoclinic lattice. The angular variation of EPR spectra has also shown that both S2O and S2O2-, radicals have two groups and each of that has two distinct sites. The principal g values for cacti site have been calculated. (c) 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
