Abstract

This research was carried out on 16 chestnut genotypes in the Black Sea region of Turkey in 2004-2005. Twenty morphological traits including dimensions of shoots, buds, leaves, stamens, nuts and number of lenticels on shoots were investigated. Statistically significant correlations were found between some morphological traits. For example length of shoot-number of lenticels, length of shoot-length of bud, thickness of shoot-leaf size, length of tooth-length of nut, length of stamen-fruit weight, fruit weight-fruit shell cracking correlated with each other significantly. The significance levels of the correlation coefficients have been presented.
