Our country’s coasts make great contributions to the economy in terms of sea transportation and
tourism. It is extremely important to protect the coasts of our country for the sustainability of our
coasts and the continuation of their economic values. Coasts are densely populated areas for different
reasons. Erosion may occur on the coasts due to natural causes such as wave movements, wind, currents,
and human causes such as sand transport and urbanization. Studies should be carried out within the
framework of integrated coastal area management in order to prevent the destruction that will occur
on the coasts. Coastal protection structures are the most frequently used method against increasing
erosion on our coasts. Coastal protection structures can be examined under three headings: structures
perpendicular to the coast, structures parallel to the coast, and offshore breakwaters. Coastal protection
structures may not always give the desired result, but on the contrary, they may increase erosion in the
area to be protected. For this, it is necessary to select the building type in the appropriate model and
apply it at the right angle. In this study, coastal protection structures used in our country were examined.
