This study aimed to examine short-term changes in musculoskeletal pain, physical activity, and health-related quality of life following structured ergonomics education in university students. This prospective quasi-experimental pretest-posttest controlled study included 116 first-year university students (intervention: n=58; control: n=58). The intervention group received a structured 9-week face-to-face ergonomics education program. Baseline musculoskeletal discomfort was characterized using the Cornell Musculoskeletal Discomfort Questionnaire. Pain intensity, physical activity, and health-related quality of life were assessed before and after the study period using the Visual Analog Scale, International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form, and Nottingham Health Profile. Within-group changes were examined using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and between-group differences using the Mann-Whitney U test. Physical activity increased significantly within the intervention group (p=0.001); however, it was already higher at baseline (p=0.008) and remained higher at posttest (p=0.001). Nottingham Health Profile pain scores improved in both groups (both p=0.001), with no significant posttest between-group difference. An unfavorable change was observed in the sleep subscale in the intervention group (p=0.005), and the groups differed at posttest (p=0.037). Neck-shoulder pain and overall VAS scores were lower in the intervention group at posttest (p=0.029 and p=0.042), although neither changed significantly within the group. Knee pain decreased within the intervention group (p=0.040), but groups differed at baseline (p=0.009). Structured ergonomics education was associated with short-term changes in selected outcomes; however, findings should be interpreted cautiously because of baseline imbalances, the quasi-experimental design, multiple exploratory comparisons, and the absence of a formal group-by-time interaction analysis.
