Abstract

A new copper(II) complex of 1-vinylimidazole (1-Vim) and perchlorate has been synthesized and structurally characterized. The molecular structure of the complex exhibits six coordination with a distorted octahedron geometry. The complex crystallizes in triclinic system with the space group P-1. The magnetic environment of the title complex has been identified by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technique. Detailed investigations of the EPR spectra show that the local symmetry of the Cu2+ ions is rhombic. Principal values of g and hyperfine tensors were determined and the ground state wave function of Cu2+ ions was obtained using EPR parameters. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
