The assessment of the function of the university healthcare centers by studying the profiles of the patients who applied to our health center, which provides health service to the students, personnel and the personnel's families. Totally 7389 patients who had applied to the Health Center of the Health, Cultural Activities and Sports Division of Ondokuzmayis University between 01.01.2003 and 19.19.2003 were retrospectively studied regarding their reasons for applying, their distributions in number in three-monthly periods, diagnoses made following evaluations, and fererrals deemed necessary to specific branches. The patients who had applied were the students and personel of the university, and the personnel's families, it was found that the most patients applied between March-May period (3201). The 24.72%(1827) of the patients were sent to various departments of the Medical Faculty Hospital. The departments which received most of the referrals were the clinics of internal deseases or ophthalmology (275 patients, 15.05%). It was determined that most of the patients examined and prescribed in the healthcare center were those who were cephalgia and depression. It was also determined that the number of the patients who had presented with hirsutismus was highly above the avarage in Turkey (141 patients, 2.5%). Most of the patients who apply to our Healthcare center are those who suffer from upper and lower respiratory system infections.
