Prof. Murat Terzi

Biography

He was born in Trabzon in 1976. He completed his primary and secondary education at Samsun İlkadım Primary School and his high school education at Samsun 19 Mayıs High School. In October 1994, he began his higher education at Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine. He completed his medical education at Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine in 2000, his neurology specialty training in 2005, and his Ph.D. in Clinical Neurosciences in 2022. On March 14, 2006, he received the title of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor on March 14, 2012, and Professor in March 2018. He completed his military service at Ankara Gülhane Military Medical Academy between 2007 and 2008. Since March 14, 2006, he has been a faculty member of the Neurology Department at Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine, and since June 2018, he has been the Head of the Neurology Department. He has served on various boards and commissions in education, R&D, and project development at our university and Faculty of Medicine. Between 2017 and 2020, he served as an advisor to the Rector of Ondokuz Mayıs University and as a member of the Clinical Research Ethics Committee. Since 2019, he has been the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ondokuz Mayıs University, and since 2016, he has been the Head of the Neuroscience Department at the Graduate Institute of Ondokuz Mayıs University. He has been responsible for the Clinical Research Unit of the Faculty of Medicine since 2014, a member of the University Education Commission since 2014, and responsible for the Neuroimmunology Laboratory at Ondokuz Mayıs University since 2017. He has been serving as Vice Rector since 2023. He has been a member of the board of the Turkish Neurological Society since 2020 and has been serving as its president since 2023. He is a member of the Turkish Multiple Sclerosis Study Group, the Turkish Neuroimmunology Study Group, the Turkish Neurology and Environmental Health and Occupational Diseases Study Group, and the Turkish Quality of Life Study Group. He has served as a primary investigator in over 50 international projects. He has numerous domestic and international articles, book authorships, and book chapter authorships, primarily in the fields of multiple sclerosis, neuroimmunology, artificial intelligence, and neuroscience, and has participated in national and international congresses and scientific meetings with presentations. His h-index is 25. He is married and has two children.
