Biography

Tuğçe Şanlı, Newcastle Üniversitesi School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape (SAPL) Kent Planlama alanında doktora derecesine sahiptir. Halen Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi Şehir ve Bölge Planlama Bölümü’nde öğretim üyesi olarak görev yapmaktadır. Araştırma alanları; planlama kültürleri, planlama hukuku, güç ilişkileri, kamusal mekân, kentsel dönüşüm, sürdürülebilirlik ve dirençli kentler konularını kapsamaktadır. Çalışmalarında özellikle planlama kültürü ile yasal çerçeveler arasındaki ilişkileri ve mekânsal planlamada güç dinamiklerinin etkisini ele almaktadır. Bu bağlamda Şanlı, kentleşme ve planlama pratiklerindeki güncel tartışmaları kentsel ve toplumsal dirençlilik ile sürdürülebilirlik eksenine de taşımaktadır.

Tuğçe Şanlı holds a PhD in Urban Planning from the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape (SAPL) at Newcastle University. She is currently a lecturer at the Department of City and Regional Planning at Ondokuz Mayıs University. Her research interests include planning cultures, planning law, power relations, public space, urban transformation, sustainability, and resilient cities. Her work particularly explores the relationships between planning culture and legal frameworks, and the role of power dynamics in spatial planning. In this context, Şanlı brings contemporary debates on urbanization and planning practices into dialogue with the themes of urban and social resilience and sustainability.
